This is what Photography students look like when they are out researching.

Guy Bourdin and I

This is a Homage to Guy Bourdin, one of my favourite photographers. It's inspired by his 1960's Triumph Bra campaign. His later work uses a lot of colour, opulent styling and great sets.

If you don't know his stuff it is well worth a look.

Fireworks

A few shots from the 5th November fireworks over Victoria Park, London.

Blind light

I found these two images, cleaning and sorting my harddrive. I shot them at the Anthony Gormley exibition "Blind Light" about 5 years ago now. In the exhobition Gormley has contained a cloud in a big glass box. You move through the total white-out noticing the colour of your clothes apparently diffusing in the airy moisture and the way those floaters that drift across your field of vision are suddenly super-visible in the perfect whiteness. The disorientation leaves you feeling panicked, anxious or overwhelmed with heightened sense of freedom.

Goldfrapp

Imagine having someone who is as hot at this....oh wait I do!

This is a pic I shot on Irene's compact at the LED festival. Good times!

And then we got Inked

I decided to get a Tattoo (another one), I have been thinking about it for some time. 9th September would have been my little brother's 24th Birthday. It hurt to think that it was on his birthday that I last saw him. So I got something on my wrist that reminds me of him. What made it double special is that my Best friend got his first tattoo on the same day.

Vintage Matt

This is my Best Friend in is younger wilder years. I love looking through prints of rolls I shot on film before digital was an option.

Staion

This is a beautiful station I shot in Urskey-Brod, Czech. Cold and broody, but beautiful.

Exhibition portrait

This is me doing some test shots while researching for my exhibition. Eerie but morbidly evocative. I shall post my exhibition shots soon.

Flowers for her

I love the photo for some reason. Irene in the English spring countryside. I suffer from severe hay fever so it was a challenge.

Smoke

This is a bit how I'm feeling today. I took this shot in Scotland two years ago.

BLOOD!

This is the direct result of 3 days drinking, Czech weddings and taking ones shoes off on a dance floor. None-the-less i am very proud of this photo having survived almost loosing my toe!

Prague

I just returned from the most amazing time in Prague. Prague, the Gothic city of Absinthe, gay bars and Czech weddings. If I could but recommend one place to enjoy yourself with a group of friends (when I say enjoy I mean in the sausage eating, beer drinking loads of dancing hedonistic kind of way fun) I would say Prague... hands down. Annihilation photos to follow, but for now I leave you with the dark Gothic beauty that is this city!

As Marion Ross once said... "Prague is the Paris of the '90s."

Matty and I 2006

Life has been busy

I will write more about what's been going on soon. Its been a tremendously busy few months.

However I will leave you with this...

Its my fav portrait at the moment of my bestie Matt.

Double vision

This is a shot I used to practice for a series I have in mind. I am slowly putting ideas together for a series called "I told you I was ill." Inspired by Spike Milligan the series will be based on drag queens. I plan to show at a friends new Cafe/Fashion hub in Melbourne. (You know who you are) Watch this space.

Things that go 'bump' in the night
Should not really give one a fright.
It's the hole in each ear
That lets in the fear,
That, and the absence of light!
-Spike Milligan

New Moon

Through the looking glass

This is a small series I shot in my home studio with everyone wearing Matty's new frames. The high contrast images emphasise the thick black frames however not so keen on the harsh shadows.
